2009: From adversity comes incredible opportunity to our returnees!

A very warm Bula Vinaka to you all and we hope that this newsletter finds you fit and well! Today I am very glad to tell you that I am able to announce to all returnees the most brilliant and tantalizing raft of new initiatives for 2009 that I have ever had the privilege of releasing! If a well-earned holiday in Fiji at Treasure or Bounty Island to escape the winter chills has appeal to you, then please read on and too can be one place where the smiles and laughter continue regardless. A big vinaka vakalevu to guest Carol Pearce for sharing this wonderful photo that illustrates this!

Book Early for Peak Season:

If you are planning to stay with us between late June through to late September book soon! We are already holding 64% occupancy for July and are fully booked from the 5th until the 11th of July. In August we are already fully booked from the 3rd August to the 7th August. Book now to get the dates you want and hopefully your favourite Bure!

MAY MADNESS!

It's no secret that the Global Financial Crisis has wreaked havoc with tourism around the world and Fiji is no exception. Whilst bookings are flowing in for July, August and September and even late June, we have a lot of rooms available in late April and all of May. We are determined that our lovely Fijian staff at Bounty and Treasure be protected from the effects of the downturn at all costs and what better way to achieve this than extending exclusive enticements to our VIP returnees!

We are calling this "May Madness" and it is a bit mad because the offer extends from late April as well (Have I had too long on the Island?!)!

Here it is:

*From the 20th of April through to 31st May*

"COMPLIMENTARY BEVERAGES"

This has never been done before at Treasure Island and we think that it will make for an even more enjoyable and convivial holiday. Airfares are cheap now, your room cost is at a bargain basement level and we shout the drinks for every day of your stay, from late April and May only.

All of this for $265 Fiji dollars per Bure per night (including all local taxes) Irresistible!

(and if you prepay we will waive the 3% administration fee for credit cards)

Details:

Stay with us anytime between 20th April 2009 and May 31st 2009 we will give you FREE drinks everyday for everyone in your Bure (Maximum 2 adults and 2 kids)

Included in the FREE drinks is unlimited tap beer, house red and white wine and soft drinks daily. Bar hours 11.30am to mid night daily. Not included is bottled beer, wines other than house wines, spirits and daily cocktails.

If you have booked in already, this offer is extended to you as well.

or there is the …30 DAY PARADISE PACK

This unique opportunity allows you to pre-purchase 30 days accommodation at a deep discount; imagine the advantages ...you can enjoy four holidays of more than a week or book your family/friends four bures for a marvelous reunion or celebration! Here are the details:

The Environment Page with Katrina: Treasure Island's Environmental Officer

Bula Vinaka All,

The past few months for 2009 have been interesting with regular reef talks with guests twice a week, nothing about monsters of the deep though….also how we at Treasure plan to minimize our Carbon Footprint through Energy Reduction and Water Conservation by introducing various options for linen change in the Housekeeping Department.

Our waste recycling program which is coming along slowly but surely, is another key area  We have had several bulker bags sent over to the mainland filled with cartons which we sell to Waste Recyclers Fiji Ltd as well as our plastic PET bottles and glass bottles. A small step but one we at Treasure take very seriously.

The programs we will be concentrating on this year will be our new recruitment of coral heads that have seen a new light as they start to grow ever extensive arms out in all directions, more importantly the fact that we have received a few good reviews from returning guests regarding the wide array of colour they seem to not have noticed while they were here on their last trip, as well as our clam development program that has been rather slow due to their extremely slow breeding rate due to the fact that they undergo broadcast spawning where fertilization is left up to nature. Environmental factors like current, tide also play an important role. Giants clams (Tridacna Squamosa) are natural water filters and remove waste from the water body converting it into non toxic filtrates. This will have a positive effect on our reef system and would also increase fish stocks as well as reef invertebrate population.

On a final note to all aspiring Environmentalists Earth Hour 2009 will be held on the 28th of March at 8.30pm – 9.30pm Fiji Time.

Vina Du Riki and thank you for your time.

Katrina Sefeti

Environmental Officer

We all wish you wellness and good fortune over the rest of 2009. We do look forward to saying hello again over sometime this year, even if you are not visiting, drop me an email to say hi!

My Kindest Regards

Graeme Back
